Drury students conduct service on study abroad trip to South Africa

On Dec. 28, 2012, a group of Drury students and professors left the United States for an impactful adventure in South Africa. The purpose of the study abroad trip was to give students the chance to experience a different part of the world while volunteering in an orphanage and a South African town. What the students saw and did during their time there is an experience that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Continue reading

Drury students spend two weeks in Greece, in class and in the community

Ten Drury students had the opportunity to travel to the island of Aigina in Greece for two weeks in January to study globalization and international issues at the Drury Center. Students go to Africa to help people affected by HIV and AIDS

Twelve Drury University students will have an eye opening and potentially life altering experience when they travel to South Africa over winter break. Supervised by Drs. Rachael Herrington and Jennifer Silva Brown, these students will visit Cape Town and work in orphanages and medical clinics helping children facing adversity and those in the community who have been affected by HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The students and two professors will leave December 28 and return January 16, 2013. Continue reading

Total immersion in French challenges Drury students

Eleven Drury students worked hard this summer learning about a foreign language and life as they spent part of their summer in France on a language study abroad trip. The students spent the bulk of their time at the Institut de Touraine in Tours, France. Their goal was total immersion in the French language. Drury study abroad trip includes an opportunity to serve students with disabilities

When Drury Spanish Professor Alberto Chamorro leads ten students on a study abroad trip to Argentina over the holiday break, the group will have much more than their personal belongings on the airplane. They will also each be carrying a suitcase of clothes for Argentinean special needs students. The group will gather at 2 p.m. for their 4 p.m. flight from the Springfield-Branson National Airport on Sunday, Dec. 26. Continue reading

One-of-a-kind art to help students gain a global education

The public will have the chance to buy original pieces of art to help send Drury students on a study abroad trip on Friday, Oct. 29, from 4-7 p.m. in the Pool Art Center Gallery at Drury University. Jacqueline Warren and Todd Lowery, Professors of Art and Design at Drury and the fundraiser sponsors, will be joined by professors Greg Booker, Rebecca Miller, and Tom Russo; proceeds from the sale will be used to help fund a trip to Florence, Italy.
